April 22, 2016
11:30am - 12:30pm

This workshop explores negotiations of power in community engagement, direct action, and policy advocacy. Organizers will discuss:

1. Challenges in building inclusive movements that meaningfully amplify the voices of people with precarious immigration status especially undocumented people;

2. Successes and failures in using a direct action strategy with a major provincial health authority; and

3. Being accountable to communities and preserving political integrity while working with politicians – passing the Vancouver Sanctuary City Policy.
